Nobody knows your wants and needs better than you. To have the control over the details that fit your taste and lifestyle is quite a luxury. However, keep your budget in the forefront of your mind and designing your home will be something to cherish. Not to mention homes designed decades ago met the needs of buyers at that time, such as a formal living room and a separate formal dining room. It was also common to have a shared single bathroom on the upper level. Today, homebuyers are looking for open floor plans, first-floor owner’s suite, multiple bathrooms throughout and the practicality of a “drop zone” from the entrance of the garage.
2.) New homes are built to meet current building codes and have up to date, more efficient systems. For instance, no leaky roofs or failing HVAC systems. Worst case scenario – if something did break, many builders offer a limited warranty. “It was roughly two years ago where my Wife and I found ourselves looking for yet another home after deciding to capitalize on the growth we had accrued in our current home. We wanted to take advantage of our equity, become debt free, and move into our long term home. As we started to get our affairs in order we had to decide where and what we wanted to buy. We got out into the market and started looking at listings. There were some very promising homes that we looked at, and even submitted a handful of offers on some places. Sadly, none of them worked out for us as the market can be a very competitive place for buyers in all ranges. It was then, that we decided to look into building a new home. At first, we thought it might be a little too high in price for our liking. After working with our real estate team and putting together a game plan, we met with a couple of builders to view some model homes and gather some financial data, such as pricing. It turned out that we were able to build a home that was not only bigger than the previous ones we put offers in on, but it was BRAND NEW!! We got to pick out everything in our home and the process was one of the most memorable times of our lives. There are so many options to choose from and the design center associates were so helpful in helping us find finishes that were the same thing as the upgraded versions, at half the price. We came out of the design center spending less than we expected for exactly what we wanted, and maybe a few extra goodies that I wanted. Watching our new home being constructed was also very exciting, to drive by it and see the different stages of construction was a real treat for my family and I. We took pictures and documented our journey, to reflect on later as we sat together in our new home. As I look back now, I would absolutely recommend exploring the new build option to any of my family, friends and colleagues. The process was unique and fun. The result was even better!
