Have you found yourself at the grocery store checkout line and noticed your bill was much more expensive than before, even for the same items you purchase so often? Or out to eat at your favorite restaurant, and your check has increased? Well, you aren’t alone, and you aren’t crazy. The Washington Post said in a recent article, “Persistent inflation continues to weigh heavily on both economic growth and household budgets…” and in another article released in Business Insider, Ray Dalio says, “There are some areas of strength. The US dollar has hit a 20-year high against other major currencies this year, but that’s not a cause for celebration.” Though the US dollar is at an all-time high, so are the prices around us. I am sure you know someone who has felt this first hand, struggled to make “ends meet” and keep up with the daily expenses, or maybe this is you. Recent studies show that many households have had to create additional income to stay on track by picking up a second or even third job. What are your thoughts on this? How have you experienced this first hand?
