Are you a part of a community run by an HOA? Well if so, you will want to keep reading. Did you know that an HOAs have governing authority and have the right to sell your home through foreclosure if you fail to comply? There were 50 families in Green Valley Ranch Colorado that did not. ‘Apparently I No Longer Have A Home. They Sold It’
One of the families shared that they had been giving sited several citations over the years from their HOA to provide upkeep on the home. Citations that included grass maintenance, siding replacement, trash cans being left out too long, and other small issues, some of which turned into fines. The family did not pay the fines, and therefore racked up a bill exceeding $5,000 and at this point, the HOA has the authority to sell the house, without the owners’ permission through a foreclosure process. Even though the families loan was in good standing, the bank could not help in any way. Your HOA has a duty to ensure the community is being well kept and the right to sell your home if you do not.
Do not make the mistake of thinking you do not have to follow the rules your HOA has set, when you receive a warning from them take action right away! What are your thoughts on this?
